WordPlay Writing Co. offers live and self-paced creative writing classes for kids and teens taught by published authors.

We believe writing should be joyful, creative, and deeply personal—not a stack of worksheets or a list of rules to memorize. Whether a learner is scribbling their very first story, obsessed with dragons, working on a novel, or convinced they "aren't a writer," we create spaces where they can experiment, take risks, and discover what they want to say.

Our classes include everything from weekly short story workshops and writing camps to fandom-inspired classes, book clubs, screenwriting, poetry, and long-form novel writing. Every class is built around doing the thing: writing. Students spend their time creating stories, discussing craft, sharing ideas, and getting thoughtful feedback from teachers who are writers themselves. Along the way, they build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and learn that their ideas are worth putting on the page.

At WordPlay, we take young writers seriously. We celebrate curiosity, imagination, and the wonderfully weird ideas that make each student unique. Our goal isn't to create perfect writers—it's to help learners develop a lifelong relationship with storytelling and leave class excited to write the next sentence.

  • Taught by published authors: Our teachers know writing from the inside because they are working writers themselves.
  • Built around actually writing: Students spend class creating, experimenting, and putting words on the page—not just filling out worksheets.
  • Supportive, encouraging feedback: We help young writers grow without making them feel like their ideas are “wrong.”
  • Creative classes for every kind of writer: From reluctant writers to novel-drafting kids, fandom lovers, poets, and future screenwriters.
  • Confidence first: We take young writers seriously so they can learn to take their own ideas seriously, too.
  • Live and self-paced options: Families can choose the format that works best for their schedule and learning style.
